Head & Neck Datasets
The following PLCO Head & Neck dataset(s) are available for delivery on CDAS. For each dataset, a Data Dictionary that describes the data is publicly available. In order to obtain the actual data in SAS or CSV format, you must begin a data-only request. Data will be delivered once the project is approved and data transfer agreements are completed.
The standard Head and Neck dataset reports the first confirmed Head and Neck cancer among the three Head and Neck subtypes (1) Larynx; (2) lip, oral cavity and pharynx; and (3) nasopharynx, nasal cavity, middle ear and sinuses. If a participant went on to get diagnosed with one of the other subtypes the trial would have documented the additional diagnosis.

1. The Head & Neck dataset is a comprehensive dataset that contains nearly all the PLCO study data available for head and neck cancer incidence and mortality analyses. While there are a few individuals with more than one head and neck cancer, this dataset contains the first cancer. The dataset contains one record for each of the approximately 155,000 participants in the PLCO trial. |
