The National Cancer Institute is happy to announce the availability of new diet and physical activity data!

The Interactive Diet and Activity Tracking in AARP (IDATA) Study is a methodologic study of device-based, internet-based, and conventional self-report instruments for assessing physical activity and diet in epidemiologic research. Scientists still have much to learn about the relationship between physical activity, diet, and disease. Limiting factors of current research are a lack of understanding about the measurement error properties of common assessment instruments and how to combine instruments to better measure food intake and physical activity participation. Instruments utilized by the IDATA Study include intensive 24-hour recalls of diet and time use, diaries, questionnaires, screeners, accelerometers, inclinometers, and urine biomarkers.

Information is available regarding the IDATA study and data collected.

Datasets are available to all qualified investigators for studies of physical activity and nutrition, and interested investigators can request access to IDATA Study data.
