Title
Thyroid Cancer and NSAIDs
Summary
COX-2 expression has been demonstrated in multiple thryoid diseases in both animal and human tissue models. Additionally, COX-2 overexpression has been demonstrated in folliclar carcinoma but not in normal thyroid tissue.

NSAIDs have been extensively studied in chemoprevention in colorectal adenomas and carcinoma, along with multiple other sites like the esophagus and stomach, possibly by the same mechanism.

This effect has yet to be demonstrated from a cohort population in thyroid cancer.
Aims

To evaluate for a relationship between thyroid malignancy and NSAID use from a cohort study, which could further strengthen the use of NSAIDs as a chemopreventive adjunct.
