Investigating Lung Cancer Screening Guidelines
Summary
Lung cancer screening is currently limited to those who are between 50-80 years old, who have smoked ≥20 pack-years, and who have smoked within the last 15 years. While these guidelines are modified from the initial guidelines in hopes of reducing sex and race-based disparities in screening, research has shown that sex and race-based disparities still exist. We hope to use the PLCO to analyze lung cancer screening guidelines' performance further before the next guidelines are formed.
Aims

Our research aims to analyze the performance of different lung cancer screening guidelines that will be most inclusive of individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.
