Title
Investigating Trends in the Prevalence and Incidence of High Grade Prostate Cancer in Appalachia vs. National Data
Summary
This project looks to compare data on PSA at the time of prostate biopsy, Gleason grade, and rates of malignancy in our Appalachian population versus the general U.S. population. Data collection on our patient population is already finished. Data will be stratified to investigate trends between PSA and cancer Gleason grade.
Aims
The project aims to support or reject the hypothesis that the rate of high-grade prostate cancer is increasing in our Appalachian population as compared to the general U.S. We would also like to compare PSA data from our population to identify any trends to support or reject current PSA screening guidelines.
