Lung Cancer Risk in Cardiovascular Disease and Related Risk Factors
For the common biological pathway and mechanism, such as inflammation, we hypothesized that lung cancer risk in those who had CVD (stroke and heart attack) or relevant risk (high cholesterol, diabetes and hypertension) were higher than healthy population. And we will test the hypothesis by cohort study design (with Risk Ratio and 95% Confidence Interval).
Meanwhile, for another causal pathway, CVD risk in lung cancer patients is worthwhile to research in our project, in order to better advice the screening guide for current patients
Because PLCO study had a large incident cases of lung cancer, this great dataset will increase power for our project, especially when the mortality of CVD and lung cancer is high (about 20% 5-year survival rate for both diseases).
1. Figure out lung cancer risk in those who had cardiovascular disease or related risk factors.
2. Figure out the risk of cardiovascular disease or related risk factors in lung cancer patients.
3. Provide reasonable recommendation for lung cancer and cardiovascular disease patients.
