Title
Homologous recombination repair capacity and breast cancer risk: a nested case control study
Summary
We plan to carry out a nested case-control study to assess homologous recombination repair (HRR) capacity in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) as the breast cancer risk factor and to further assess the relationship of HRR capacity in PBLs with established breast cancer risk factors and breast tumor characteristics. We will also assess the correlation between HRR capacity in PBLs with GWAS SNPs in the attempt to identify a genetic risk score that represents HRR capacity. Finally, we will correlate HRR capacity in PBLs with tumor DNA capacity and gene copy number changes in tumor tissue.
Aims
Aim 1. Assess the relationship between HRR capacity in prospectively collected PBL samples and risk
of breast cancer.
Aim 2. Assess the relationship between HRR capacity with GWAS SNPs.
Aim 3. Asses the relationship between HRR capacity with gene copy number changes in tumor tissue.
