Title
Data mining based decision support system using data warehouse.
Summary
Our goal is to design a data mining based decision support system (DSS) using data warehouse that can be shared among clinicians, staff, and patients to compare and contrast different type of cancer diagnosis and treatments.
Aims

The warehousing approach is particularly useful when high query performance is desired, or when information sources are expensive or transitory. In addition, data warehousing provide advanced features to help doctors to perform complex queries. We will use star schema with dimensional model for each type of cancer and combine all cancer types into galaxy schema, therefore many fact table and some common dimensional tables will be shared. We plan to implement a DSS based on OLAP with data mining to discover hidden patterns in the cancer data and improve information visualization for all stakeholders. This system should be able to benefit a majority of cancer health care centers.
