Title
Characterization of Treatment Received by NLST Participants
Summary
Lung cancer treatment is dependent on many characteristics including the type of lung cancer, nodule characteristics (e.g. size and location), and stage at diagnosis. These characteristics inform whether a patient is suitable for surgical intervention. Surgery is often the standard treatment for local disease. However, many patients are considered inoperable due to comorbidities, who need other treatment options. The intent of this project is to 1) characterize inoperable patients to understand the reasons for inoperability and 2) characterize the treatment approaches used for NLST participants.
Aims

1. Characterize inoperable NLST patients to understand the reasons for inoperability
2. Characterize treatment received by inoperable and operable NLST participants with respect to nodule size, stage at diagnosis, and lung cancer progression
