Title
Marty Driesler Lung Cancer Project: Cancer incidence and Survival in Screened and Unscreened Populations
Summary
Kentucky has the highest incidence rates of lung cancer in the United States. The MDLCP accrued high risk individuals within Appalachian Kentucky to low-dose CT screening annually for 3 years, based on the following criteria: 55 to 75 years of age, current or former smokers with a >30 pack-years smoking history. To qualify for CT screening, subjects also had an FEV1/FVC<70%. This post-hoc analysis compared the incidence of cancers and survival in the CT-screened (SCR) and unscreened (UNS) populations of the MDLCP.

All MDLCP research participants consented to long term follow-up and cancer incidence and survival was determined by study participation (SCR) and by phone (UNS) population.

This project will compare NLST and MDLCP data.
Aims

1.Compare MDLCP data with NLST data, including lung cancer incidence rates, stage, and location.

2. Evaluate incidence of non-lung cancer.
