Title
PILOT 96 samples from prior HCC study to Nomic

Summary
This is for a pilot analysis of samples previously sent to Olink for proteomics analysis for a HCC study by Dr. Eleanor Watts. The lab to be tested is Nomic in Montreal (https://nomic.bio/omni-1000). The Nomic lab assesses 1,000 proteins per sample, with absolute quantitation, at far lower cost than any other lab we know of. Proteins have been selected based on prior associations with risk of cancer and/or other diseases and so the set of proteins is very rich. Validation data provided by Karl Smith-Byrne at Oxford and from the lab itself suggest high reliability and high concordance with Olink measures, though perhaps with some slight bias in quantitation. However, validity/reliability needs to be confirmed before proceeding to larger studies.

We would send 1 plate of samples, which equates to 96 samples (we will confirm exact number with lab, as sometimes some slots are reserved for lab QC).

Aims

1. Assess the reliability of Nomic lab measures, as quantified by CVs and ICCs, in split samples
2. Evaluate concordance with Olink measures, i.e. correlations for same proteins across labs
3. Evaluate degree to which we can recapitulate HCC associations (contingent on case sample availability)
