Title
Correlate Longitudinal Changes in Spirometry with Longitudinal Changes in the CT Scan and CXR in the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer

Summary
Study now called, "Radiographic Predictors of Pulmonary Physiology in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease." CT scanning can be used to aid in the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This project will attempt to correlate low attenuation areas (LAA%) and airway wall area (WA%) with pulmonary function as measured by spirometry. It will also explore the relationship between a combined index of chest radiograph abnormalities and pulmonary function. About 750 subjects in each arm of NLST who consent to spirometry will be enrolled.

Aims

1. To correlate the LAA% and WA% as determined by CT of patients enrolled in the NLST with their pulmonary function as measured by spirometry. 2. To explore the relationship between a combined index of chest radiograph abnormalities and pulmonary function.
