Title
Underlying risk of developing and dying from lung cancer

Summary
Lung cancer screening with low dose computed tomography has been shown to reduce lung cancer mortality among individuals ages 55-80 years with at least a 30 pack-year smoking history. Generalizing the net benefits of lung cancer screening from trial populations to broader populations depends upon the distribution of underlying risk of developing and dying from lung cancer. Studies have documented differences among participants in the National Lung Screening Trial and the general population eligible for lung cancer screening.

Aims

1. Determine the risk of developing lung cancer using existing risk prediction models and data from the NLST
3. Determine the risk of dying from lung cancer using exisiting risk prediction models and data from the NLST
