Title
Advancing Equity in Lung Cancer Screening Referrals: A Focus on Asian, Native, Alaskan, Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Communities
Summary
Asian Americans, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders have a higher instance of lung cancer when compared to Caucasian Americans or Black Americans. Previous studies have reviewed the lack of equity in lung cancer screening for racial and ethnic minorities and how this disparity can be avoided in lung cancer screening. For our study we have included males and females between the ages of 50 and 77 who were referred to continue low dose spiral CT screening after their initial scan. Participants were excluded for any missing information and if they were not recommended to continue with the NLST. Participants were also excluded if they were younger than 50 or greater than 77 and were referred for X-ray NLST instead of the spiral CT.
Aims

1. To report the findings in referral for continuing the NLST and how age, race, ethnicity, education, pack year history, and alcohol consumption affect the need for continued lung cancer screening.
2. To report increased racial/ethnic equity in Lung Cancer Screening.
3. To mentor second and third year osteopathic medical students in research regarding lung cancer screening tools and how race and ethnicity affects the utilization of such tools.
4. To present or publish findings to a medical conference or journal.
