Title
Development a risk-stratified tool of colonoscopy advanced and nonadvanced adenomas
Summary
Previous studies demonstrated that endoscopic screening for colorectal cancer (CRC) with colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy can significantly reduce CRC incidence and mortality. Adenomatous polyps, which are precancerous lesions of CRC, occur in more than one-third of patients undergoing screening. According to the progression risk of CRC, adenomas generally are categorized into advanced adenoma (any adenoma ≥1 cm, high-grade dysplasia, or with tubulovillous or villous histology) and non-advanced adenoma (adenomas <1 cm without advanced histology), and corresponding one-size-fits-all interval of colonoscopy surveillance is recommended. A risk prediction model for colonoscopy adenomas could be used to stratify the risk of CRC at individual level and to provide supporting evidence for further surveillance modality. We propose to explore core risk factors highly correlated with CRC and develop a risk-stratified tool of colonoscopy adenoma by using the PLCO data.
Aims

Aim 1: Identify core risk factors highly correlated with colorectal cancer for colonoscopy-screened adenomas.
Aim 2: Develop a risk-stratified tool for advanced and non-advanced adenoma.
