Title
Ultra-processed food consumption and risk of prostate cancer: results from a large prospective multicenter study
Summary
Prostate cancer is the second most common malignancy and the fifth cause of cancer-related death in men, with an estimated >1,400,000 new patients and >375,000 deaths worldwide each year, with a growing incidence (1). The established risk factors for prostate cancer include age, ethnicity, and germline mutation, which cannot be modified. Therefore, it is becoming vital importance to identify modifiable risk factors (2). Intriguingly, dietary factors may play an indispensable role in the development and procession of prostate cancer.
Ultra-processed foods with having a higher content of total fat, and added sugar and salt, along with a lower fibre and vitamin density was associated with the risk of dyslipidaemia overweight, obesity, and hypertension. Although some studies have been explored the association between ultra-processed food consumption and prostate cancer risk (3, 4), no prospective multicenter cohort accurately evaluated this potential association. Hence, we sought to investigate this potential association in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial.
Aims

To investigate the prospective associations between ultra-processed food consumption and risk of prostate cancer in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial
