Title
Emphysema quantification using lung cancer screening CT scans: diagnostic and prognostic value

Summary
Emphysema quantification will be performed for the screening CT scans and its association with various outcomes including incident lung cancer, interval cancer, and survival will be analyzed.
CT kernel conversion and/or denoising tools, which were developed previously (i.e., outside the NLST data), will be applied to and validated.

Aims

- Validation of a CT kernel conversion tool.
- Association between emphysema (quantitatively and qualitatively assessed) with incident lung cancer, interval cancer (i.e., analysis in participants with baseline-negative CT scans), and survival.
- Association of emphysema with survival in participants with screening-detected lung cancer.
- Association of emphysema with lung cancer characteristics in participants with screening-detected lung cancer.
