Title
Lifestyle, diet, medical history, common beverages, and medication use in relation to stroke risk in the PLCO study
Summary
Stroke remains the leading cause of disability and mortality globally. Stroke incidence increases with age. The major risk factors included hypertension, diabetes and cardiac diseases, and unhealthy behavioral factors. Previous studies have been estimated that approximately 12 million people die from stroke. Therefore, effective preventive measures are warranted.
Aims

Using the detailed data from PLCO including the Baseline Questionnaire, Supplemental Questionnaire, and Diet History Questionnaire, we aim to assess the association between stroke risk and body mass index, education level, smoking status, drinking status, leisure-time physical activity, energy intake, intakes of fruit and vegetables, common beverages, personal history of the disease, and other diets. If necessary, other questionnaires were also needed, Cox regression analysis will be performed to estimate the hazards ratios using adjusted models.
