Title
Leisure-time physical activity and risk of cancer in the Cohort Consortium
Summary
The objective of this study is to examine the association between physical activity and individual cancer sites and overall cancer in a large pooled analysis of ~1.5 million participants, including more than ~100,000 cancer cases. PLCO would be 1 of 10 cohorts to participate.
Aims

1. To examine physical activity in relation to all individual cancers on a site-specific basis (i.e. hazard ratios for each cancer site with at least 100 cases will be reported). This will help improve estimates of the dose-response relation between leisure-time activity and cancers of the breast, endometrium, and colon and allow us to study rare cancers that have not been adequately examined in prior physical activity studies. 2. To examine physical activity in relation to total cancer risk (all cancers together). This would yield an estimate of the overall cancer burden due to a lack of physical activity.
