Title
Determinants of Menopausal Hormone Therapy Use in Women in the PLCO Study
Summary
Prevalence of use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) has undergone many fluctuations in the past 4 decades. Most recently, the findings of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) estrogen plus progestin trial has resulted in revised national guidelines on the use of menopausal hormone therapy. Women participating in the PLCO trial provide a unique cohort to examine changing trends in the use of menopausal hormone therapy. All participants completed the Baseline Questionnaire prior to the publication of the first WHI manuscript and the Supplemental Questionnaire was administered following the widely publicized results of the WHI findings. In addition, the supplemental questionnaire addresses types of HT used by participants and if they stopped or switched types.
Aims

#1: Determine overall use of menopausal hormone therapy in the PLCO cohort. #2: Determine factors that predict use of menopausal hormone therapy in the PLCO cohort. #3: Determine trends in changing patterns of MHT use between the baseline and supplemental questionnaires.
