Title
Lung cancer deaths by type of treatment
Summary
Lung cancer screening guidelines endorse screening for persons able and willing to undergo curative therapy. However, the ability to undergo curative therapy may not be thoroughly assessed prior to referral for screening. Thus some persons with screen-diagnosed lung cancers are unable to receive curative therapy. This project will examine the impact of the type of treatment on lung cancer death rates in persons with the same stage of disease.
Aims

1. Compare lung cancer death rates for lung cancers of the same stage by type of treatment, for the entire NLST cohort and separately for the CT and CXR randomization arms.
2. Determine whether differences in treatment and lung cancer death rates are associated with participant, screen, diagnostic follow-up, and lung cancer pathology characteristics.
