Title
Predictors of compliance with baseline sigmoidoscopy in the PLCO screening trial
Summary
In order to evaluate the potentially confounding influence of selection factors for screening attendance in observational (i.e. non-randomized) studies of sigmoidoscopy screening efficacy, we wish to examine the associations between a number of established colorectal cancer risk factors and attendance at the T0 sigmoidoscopy examination in the screening arm of the PLCO trial
Aims

1. To determine whether compliance with the initial (T0) invitation for sigmoidoscopy screening in the PLCO trial differed according to several colorectal cancer (CRC) risk factors measured in the baseline questionnaire, including for example age, gender, race, cigarette smoking, family history of CRC, body mass index, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use, and (in women) post-menopausal hormone use. 2. To examine whether the strengths of association of the above predictors of compliance with the T0 invitation varied among different subpopulations (as defined, for example, by age, gender, or family history of CRC).
