Title
Anti-inflammatory, Urological, and Reproductive Factors Associated with Risk of Bladder Cancer

Summary
Urinary bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer among men and the ninth most common cancer among women in the United States(1). In addition to increasing age and male gender, tobacco smoke and occupational exposure to aromatic amines are important and well-established risk factors for bladder cancer (2). The research regarding the association between lifestyle, hormonal, reproductive, and urological factors is less well established. This proposed investigation would make a significant contribution to the bladder cancer literature because of the prospective nature of the PLCO study, the detailed information on factors of interest, the extensive covariate data, and the large sample size.

Aims

1) To assess the association between non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and risk of bladder cancer. 2) To assess the association between hormonal and reproductive factors in women including but not limited to age at menopause, use of hormone replacement therapy, age at first birth, and parity and risk of bladder cancer. 3) To assess the association between nocturia in men, while accounting for physician-diagnosed BPH and TURP, and risk of bladder cancer.
