Title
A Systematic Review of the Validity of Dietary Assessment Methods for Measuring Energy Intake of Adults with Class III Obesity
Summary
This project is a systematic review to assess the utility of self-reported methods of dietary intake to measure energy intake in adults with BMI≥40 (Class III Obesity). The impact of this systematic review is to better understand the state of the evidence in assessment of dietary energy intake among adults with severe obesity. The results of this work will help to direct future research priorities for developing and refining methods to assess diet among this population, and to demonstrate the need for inclusion of more participants with severe obesity in future work.
Aims

- To quantify the number of adult participants with Class III obesity in studies to validate self-reported measures of dietary energy intake using doubly-labeled water.
- To assess the validity of existing self-reported methods to measure dietary energy intake in adults with Class III obesity compared with DLW.
