Title
Dietary inflammatory index and incidence of and death from ovarian cancer: A prospective study of American adults
Summary
Among gynecological cancers ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rates and dismal five-year survival rates. In 2022, there was an estimated 21,750 new cases and 13,940 deaths from ovarian cancer in the United States. The risk of ovarian cancer increases in females with age, along with having a family history, having a family cancer syndrome, and breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA) mutations. Growing epidemiologic data have indicated the critical role of chronic inflammation in the onset and progression of ovarian cancer. To date, several studies have endeavored to examine the pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory attributes of diet in relation to the incidence and mortality of ovarian cancer. Nonetheless, the extant body of research predominantly consists of a limited number of case-control and small-scale prospective studies. We conducted this analysis to explore the relationship between dietary inflammatory and ovarian cancer incidence and mortality in large scale subjects from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) cohort.
Aims

Our objective is to examine whether following the anti-inflammatory diet are related with a reduced incidence of ovarian cancer in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial.
