Title
Secular trend of age at menarche and age at menopause among women of different races
Summary
Hormone-related factors such as age at menarche and age at menopause could be associated with several cancers, e.g. breast, ovarian and prostate. As the economic growth and life style changes, hormone-related factors varies across generations. Age at menarche and age at menopause are two measurable factors that could reflect endogenous hormones levels. However, these data were limited in recent studies. In this study, we will explore secular trend of age at menarche and age at menopause, and investigate the related environmental and life style factors. Furthermore, we will examine the relationship between hormone-related factors with ovarian cancer risk and survival. This study will provide a clear description of age at menarche and age at menopause among women of different races.
Aims
First, we will investigate the secular trend of age at menarche and age at menopause among women of different generations. Second, we will compare differences of age at menarche and age at menopause and their related factors among women of different races, e.g. whites and Asians. Third, we will examine the relationship between several hormone-related factors (e.g., age at menarche, age at menopause and hormone treatment) with ovarian cancer risk and survival.
Additional analysis will look at lung and colorectal cancer risk and survival.
